Position Summary

As a Staff Accountant at Equum Medical, you will play an integral role in our mission to revolutionize acute care telehealth. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and compliance of our financial statements, leading month-end and year-end close processes, and collaborating closely with various departments to maintain the integrity of our financial data. Your expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and general ledger management will be crucial in supporting our commitment to delivering exceptional telehealth solutions. Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and regulatory standards
  • Month-End Close: Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis. Identify and address discrepancies.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in developing annual budgets and periodic forecasting providing insights for decision-making
  • General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and recording financial transactions accurately and in a timely manner
  • Audit Support: Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits, which includes preparing audit schedules and respond to audit inquiries to ensure a smooth audit process
  • Compliance: Stay current with accounting regulations and industry standards to ensure compliance with all financial, tax, and regulatory requirements
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes and internal controls. Implement improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Financial Analysis: Perform in-depth financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. Present findings and recommendations to senior management
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and procurement, to ensure accurate financial data flow and resolve financial discrepancies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or Finance
  • At least 3-5+ years of relevant experience and demonstrable success as indicated by progressively more responsible roles
  • Industry financial accounting experience, corporate accounting, or public accounting experience
  • Proficiency utilizing financial systems and reporting packages as well as Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with an accounting software; Intacct or NetSuite experience highly preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • This role will be participating in a hybrid work schedule and will require two days in the office (Brentwood, TN)

Knowledge and Skills

  • Intacct is preferred but NetSuite is acceptable
  • Experience working with external vendors
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
  • Solid understanding of financial analysis and reporting
  • Prior experience in audit support is a plus

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or Finance
  • At least 3-5+ years of relevant experience and demonstrable success as indicated by progressively more responsible roles
In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for 401k, continuing education, and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements). Total compensation is based on several factors, including type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications. This information is applicable for all full-time positions.
